Belarusian weightlifter Daria Naumova , a native of the Mogilev region, took silver at the II Games of the CIS countries.
Performing in the 81 kg weight category, the Belarusian athlete gained 235 kg in the biathlon (snatch - 101 kg, clean and jerk - 134 kg). Russian athlete Yana Sotieva confidently won the championship title - 248 kg (113+135), her compatriot Maria Gruzdova became the bronze medalist - 234 kg (104+130). The fourth place was taken by Belarusian Diana Minkova - 209 kg (94+115).
Tomorrow the competitions in the Grodno Ice Palace will continue. Athletes will compete for awards in four weight categories - two for women and two for men. The weightlifting tournament is one of the most representative in terms of composition of participants at the II Games of the CIS countries. It hosts many titled athletes. In particular, in the weight category of 109 kg, Belarusian Olympic champion Andrei Aryamnov plans to compete in the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Other well-known athletes who won the most prestigious international competitions also came to Grodno.
