The regional review competition of amateur theatrical groups "At the distance of May of Belarus" is held in the Mogilev region. The competition of theater groups is dedicated to the Year of Peace and Creation. The organizer of the competition is the Mogilev Regional Methodological Center of Folk Art and Cultural and Educational Work.

On February 27, the first creative screening took place at the Palace of Arts in Bobruisk. The next stage will be held in Cherikov for the theater groups of the south-eastern region, and on March 3 - another one in Mogilev. On March 15, in Mogilev, the audience will see performances by the best theater groups - the winners of the preliminary stage.

The head of the department of amateur creativity and cultural and leisure activities of the cultural institution "Mogilev Regional Methodological Center for Folk Art and Cultural and Educational Work" Alexander Gluzdov spoke about the features of the competition this year:

– In total, there are 20 theater groups in the region with the title of “people's exemplary”. All amateur theaters are invited to participate in this competition. In 6 years, this year's record number of participants is 39, almost twice the usual number. Winners will be determined in different categories. The gala concert of the winners will take place on the Constitution Day of the Republic of Belarus. One of the ideas of the competition is to popularize the work of Belarusian playwrights.

Multi-genre amateur theatrical groups of cultural institutions of the region take part in the competition: drama, musical, plastic theatres, studio theatres, theaters of miniatures, theater groups working in other types and forms of theatrical art, the cultural institution said.
