Be-La-Rus camp unites youth from Belarus, Latvia, Russia

MINSK, 26 July (BelTA) – The international youth camp Be-La-Rus removes borders between young people of Belarus, Latvia and Russia, and helps cultivate and strengthen contacts between youth organizations of the three countries, BelTA learnt from Second Secretary of the Central Committee of the BRSM Youth Union Albina Sychevskaya who will lead the Belarusian delegation at the 21st camp Be-La-Rus on 26-29 July in Vitebsk Oblast. The international youth camp is symbolically held at the junction of the borders of Belarus, Latvia and Russia near the Mound of Friendship commemorating the military union of the partisans of the three states. The major goal of the camp is to cultivate moral values, promote patriotism and strengthen national identity of young people. The camp will also give young people an opportunity to prove themselves in sporting and artistic events and contests. “This camp is a ground to communicate best practices by heads and activists of youth organizations participating in the camp, including the BRSM Youth Union, the Progress Union of the Youth of Latvia, and the Russian Youth Union,” Albina Sychevskaya said. She noted that Be-La-Rus is no longer a purely youth camp. “Age limits are getting irrelevant, just like the state borders between Belarus, Latvia and Russia. For some people this will be their first Be-La-Rus camp, others have not missed a single session since the camp was founded 21 years ago,” she said. This year the international youth camp will bring together 650 young people. Its major theme will be cinema. Guests and participants of the camp will be able to learn more about cinema, try their hand at movie-making, shoot a movie about the camp, attend master classes in movie-making. Young people will traditionally compete in football, volleyball, and a tug-of-war. Every year one of these associations takes charge of the organization of the camp. This year the camp is organized by the Progress Union of the Youth of Latvia.
