Belarus, Czech Republic to sign cooperation agreement in forestry

MINSK, 14 November (BelTA) – An agreement on cooperation in the forestry industry will be signed between representatives of the Forestry Ministries of Belarus and the Czech Republic in Prague on 15 November, BelTA learnt from the press service of the Foreign Ministry of Belarus. A Belarusian delegation led by First Deputy Forestry Minister Fyodor Lisitsa left for the Czech Republic on 14 November to sign the document. According to the ministry, the two countries will develop cooperation in such areas as administrative, legal and economic aspects of forest administration. Among priority areas of international cooperation will also be multipurpose forest exploitation and strengthening of ecological functions of the forests, genetic conservation and improvement of species composition of stand, their reproduction, protection from fires, protection against pests and diseases, forest resources recording, forest monitoring and game husbandry. Foresters of the two countries will implement joint programs and projects in forestry, perform research in the issues of mutual interest. Apart from this, the sides will exchange delegations of scientists and specialists, practices, sci-tech information, scientific findings. A joint taskforce will be set up to coordinate the implementation of projects under the agreement. While in the Czech Republic, Belarusian foresters will get familiar with local forestry practices, visit forestry companies and discuss plans for further cooperation between the two ministries.
