Collection of the parent asset of the "correct summer!" took place in Mogilev

29 May 2023

On May 26, at the Mogilev State Regional Institute for the Development of Education, a meeting of the regional parental asset was held on the topic “The right summer!”. The event was planned in order to organize useful leisure activities for minors in the summer, to attract public attention to the problem of preserving the life and health of children; combining the efforts of teachers, parents and specialists from various social institutions to instill in children the skills of safe behavior and their observance. This was told by the official representative of the Leninsky District Department of Internal Affairs of Mogilev Elena Simonova .

The meeting was attended by the head of the law enforcement and prevention department of the Internal Affairs Directorate of the Mogilev Regional Executive Committee, police colonel Dmitry Parkov and the deputy head of the department for drug control and combating human trafficking of the Internal Affairs Directorate of the Mogilev Regional Executive Committee, police lieutenant colonel Maxim Yartym . Also among the speakers were representatives of various departments of the Mogilev Regional Executive Committee; prosecutor's office of the Mogilev region; Mogilev Regional Committee of the Belarusian Republican Youth Union; Mogilev Regional Department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations.

Dmitry Parkov spoke to the assembled leaders and specialists, present via video link, with a report on the topic "The main parameters of the criminogenic situation in the teenage environment of the region." He focused the attention of teachers on the need to control the presence of minors on the Internet, because it is there that adolescents are often involved in the illegal distribution of drugs, pornographic materials, fraud, embezzlement of funds through the use of computer technology. The head also noted that the motive for committing crimes, as a rule, is the same: the possibility of easy money, and parents do not always pay attention to the appearance of expensive things in their children. He also recalled the increase in cases of injuries and deaths of minors at the beginning of the summer season:

Adults should teach children the elementary rules of behavior in everyday life, on the water, not to leave them unattended. After all, the main cause of injuries is the lack of proper control over children. Together we must create a safe environment where no one is exposed to undue risk. In addition, the child must be taught to distinguish between respect for adults and unconditional obedience to all elders, children have the right and must say "no" to anyone who intends to harm them in any form. Every parent should be aware of their responsibility to ensure the safety of their child.

The topic of Maxim Yartym's speech was "Prevention of drug crimes among adolescents and crimes against the sexual integrity and sexual freedom of minors." The law enforcement officer spoke about trends in this area, cited statistics of the past and this year. He warned that such crimes are increasingly moving to the Internet, where criminals create fake profiles under the guise of children of the same gender or age in various social networks:

–  By getting to know children and using various psychological techniques, they lure out of them photos and videos of pornographic content with their image. Then, under the threat of distribution to friends of previously obtained images, they are persuaded to continue to produce explicit materials, and in the future such actions can lead to a personal meeting of the criminal with the child, i.e. to commit various violent crimes.

The primary task of all specialists working with children is to build trusting relationships with adolescents, adequately respond to their requests for help, be aware of indirect signs of violence and not leave them unattended, assist the child and his parents in contacting law enforcement agencies, and also independently inform people in uniform about alleged violence. Knowledge about the normative sexual development and behavior of children will help determine whether it makes sense to contact the police, a psychotherapist or other specialists.

The law enforcement officer noted that only the joint work of all subjects of the regional parental asset, as well as teachers and parents, will be able to prevent the commission of crimes against children.
