Craftswomen of the region embroider a map of the Mogilev region

17 April 2023

Masters of folk art from all over the region work in the Mogilev Regional Methodological Center of Folk Art and Cultural and Educational Work. They create a unique map of the Dnieper region.

“Now the republican project “Cultural Recession of Belarus” is being implemented in the country, organized by the Central Committee of the Belarusian Trade Union of Cultural Workers,” explained Natalya Anikovich, head of the department of traditional artistic culture of the methodological center of NT and KPR . – According to the conceived idea, masters of folk art should create maps of each region, which will later be collected into a single map of Belarus 3x2.5 m in size.

The map of the region, which they embroider, will contain the main symbols of the tangible and intangible cultural heritage of every corner of the Dnieper region.

The first stitch on the map of the Mogilev region was made by Olga Pobelustik. A craftswoman from the Kruglyansky district embroidered a folk percussion musical instrument, a rattle, on the map. But the Goretsky district is famous for straw weaving, so the methodologist of the regional House of Crafts Natalya Avlasevich embroidered a straw chest on the map. A product made of straw also appeared on the map of the Bykhov region - a straw spider.

Objects of intangible historical and cultural value are located within the boundaries of the Dribinsky district - bast shoes and felt boots. Cooperage and earthenware - at Glusk and Bobrysk.

Masters from 16 districts have already completed their work. The baton was taken over by a craftswoman from the Klimovichi district. Tatyana Sapozhkova is embroidering the symbol of the Golden Bee International Festival of Children's Creativity, which has been held in Klimovichi since 1996.

Craftswomen from Slavgorod, Krasnopolye and Kostyukovich are waiting for their turn. So Slavgorod residents will embroider the main attraction of the region - the Blue Spring, Krasnopol residents - an ornament, and Kostyukovites - a bear.

The project is scheduled to be completed by May. The tapestry map will become a symbol of the cultural heritage of the Belarusian people.
