Lukashenko hears out report on Brest Oblast’s readiness for harvest season

20 June 2024

Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko heard out a report of Brest Oblast Governor Yuri Shuleiko on the region’s readiness for the 2024 harvest season on 19 June, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian leader.

“Last weekend, the president viewed the fields and crops of Grodno Oblast and Brest Oblast. Today the head of state held a meeting with Brest Oblast governor Yuri Shuleiko who presented a detailed report on the readiness of the region for the harvest season. Some farms in Brest Oblast have already started harvesting winter barley,” the press service informed.

Brest Oblast is set to crop 360,000 hectares under grain this year. The area under winter barley has been increased by a third. This crop yields good harvest every year. This year the region has about 30,000 hectares under winter barley to harvest. Some farms have already started cropping on 17 June. More than 300 new combine harvesters have been delivered to the farms of Brest Oblast over the past two years. The work in this direction continues.

About 6,000 people, including combine harvesters, drivers, operators and other specialists, will be harvesting grain in Brest Oblast this year. A total of 1,384 combine harvesters will be involved in the fieldwork.
