Lukashenko invites China to start joint manufacture of steel concrete

10 August 2012
KOSTYUKOVICHI, 10 August (BelTA) - President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko invited China to start joint manufacture of steel concrete at Belarusian Cement Plant. The head of state is visiting the enterprise on 10 August. “By the new year we need to have a business plan: either ours or the joint one with China for the production of steel concrete,” said Alexander Lukashenko. He ordered to do careful estimates and make final decision about the new production. “The goal is to manufacture products with high added value. The new production will give an impetus to the development of the town and the region,” the President believes. “If steel concrete is in demand in Europe, why not produce it?” said Alexander Lukashenko when talking to representatives of China CITIC Corporation that is involved in the investment project at Belarusian Cement Plant. The second cement production line has been created with the help of Chinese investments. Alexander Lukashenko added: “If you are ready to come here, you are welcome. If there is a demand for steel concrete, then produce it. If not, we will do it ourselves,” he said. It is expected that the new product will be made for export. It means that the country and the region will earn foreign currency revenue. It also means new jobs for the town. Possibilities to expand the lineup of the plant were also discussed during the President’s visit.
