Chair of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly Natalya Kochanova took part in the Minsk City Council meeting to discuss the development strategy for MotoVeloZavod and the investment project to recondition the area along 8 Partizansky Avenue in Minsk, BelTA has learned.
“Top on the agenda of today's meeting is the approval of the MotoVeloZavod development strategy. This company is important for the country. We must retain competencies, production capacities. Such was the instruction of the head of state. While visiting the company last year, the president gave an instruction to increase localization of bicycles and motorcycles. A lot of work has been done this year together with the Industry Ministry. We have localized bicycle production - by the end of the year, bicycle localization is expected to approach 60% taking into account prototypes. The localization of motorcycle production will be 30%,” First Deputy Minsk Mayor Nadezhda Lazarevich said.
According to her, the company keeps moving forward. “We keep going. There is a clear and understandable instruction from the head of state to achieve localization of more than 50% within five years through the upgrade effort and new product launches,” the first deputy mayor noted. “I reiterate, we are moving in this direction in cooperation with the Industry Ministry. We have analyzed the capacities and competencies of all enterprises of the Republic of Belarus. We are launching the first prototypes literally in November-December,” she said.
“I am sure that our bicycles and motorcycles will become even better, 100% Belarusian and, of course, our products will be bought in even greater volumes,” added Nadezhda Lazarevich.
