Vikkru plans to start new search season in april

22 February 2023

Members of the Mogilev regional historical and patriotic search club "Vikkru" plan to start the new season in April. This was announced by the historian and head of the club Nikolai Borisenko.

This year, search expeditions are planned to be held in 8 districts of the Mogilev region. “Expeditions are planned in Mogilev, Bobruisk, Bykhovsky, Chaussky, Shklovsky, Osipovichi, Klichevsky and Goretsky districts. Search work will take place at the sites of fierce battles in 1941, 1943 and 1944,” he said.

Another expedition is planned in the Klichev district. Here search engines will work at the sites of the genocide of the Belarusian people during the Great Patriotic War.

In addition, the Wings of Victory search group of Alexander Klemin will continue search work to identify the crews of four Soviet Pe-2 dive bombers shot down on the same day on March 29, 1944 on the border of four regions of the Chaussky, Slavgorodsky, Bykhov and Mogilev regions. All pilots are still listed as missing.

Before the start of the season, the search engines have a lot to do. Each expedition is thought out to the smallest detail, archival documents are carefully studied, and additional reconnaissance is carried out. Now there is an active preparation for the forthcoming works.

All search expeditions will be carried out by the Wikkruvians jointly with the 52nd Specialized Battalion of the Ministry of Defense. “By tradition, we will involve young people and schoolchildren in search work. In each of the districts, students from nearby schools will be able to help seasoned search engines, touch our heroic history,” Nikolay Borisenko noted.

This year, "Vikkru" will launch serious reconnaissance work on the Buinichi field in the Mogilev region. “We already have all the necessary agreements. We will conduct large-scale reconnaissance. This is due to the fact that they plan to start building a museum of military glory here,” the historian said.
