Belarus has created all the conditions for supporting and unlocking the potential of young scientists. This opinion was shared with journalists by the rector of the Belarusian-Russian University Mikhail Lustenkov during the II Republican Forum of Young Scientists of Higher Education Institutions, which takes place on the basis of the university in Mogilev.
“It is a great honor for the Belarusian-Russian University to host such a large-scale event. Everything possible is being done in our country to develop young people and unlock their potential,” he said. - The Forum of Young Scientists gathers young, enterprising and talented children from different universities of the country on one platform. This is a good opportunity to communicate with each other, to get acquainted with the capabilities of our university - we will present our equipment and the available material and technical base, talk about what kind of research we are doing.”
Such forums, the rector is sure, will help develop new unified approaches to the development of youth science. “These young people who came to us today are the elite of the scientific world, who, perhaps in a few years, will manage, develop concepts for the development of universities, departments and faculties at various levels. This is the face of our future science, he stressed. “We are very sensitive to this forum and we are confident that it will be successful.”
As Mikhail Lustenkov noted, there are a large number of mechanisms in Belarus to support and develop young and promising scientists. “On the example of our university, I can say that young scientists are supported at all levels. The guys have the opportunity to receive support from the special fund of the President. Starting from the junior years, the guys can participate in research activities, write scientific papers and take part in the republican competition. In addition, together with the supervisor, you can also engage in various projects, - he said. - Our university holds a competition for the best young scientist of the university. And every year two people, one with a degree, the other without it, receive serious material support based on the results of the competition. To do this, you need to be involved in scientific activities, publish in scientific journals, implement their developments for a particular enterprise. In addition, every year we hold a startup competition for young people. We involve them in this process, we invite those who have interesting and creative ideas. Every year, three teams of young scientists, teachers and students receive serious grants for the development of their idea - about Br20 thousand.”
One of the participants in the forum of young scientists was the assistant of the Department of Equipment and Technology of Welding Production, Chairman of the Council of Young Scientists of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of BRU Dmitry Yumanov. “The developments of young scientists of our university are very diverse. Many technical sciences are affected by us: welding technologies, electrical engineering and robotics, programming and much more. As for my developments, at the forum I represent the department of equipment and technology of welding production. Welding is a large scientific field. We have several scientific directions at the department that deal with various methods of welding and welding equipment, work in various research organizations, - he said. - Our stand presents promising areas of work of the department. More than 100 young scientists from different universities of the country became participants of the forum this year. Within a few days they will become participants in thematic meetings and discussions, get acquainted with the material and technical base and achievements of Mogilev universities, and also get acquainted with the history of the city of Mogilev.
