Sculpture of a bard fisherman to be unveiled at the big bard fishing festival

27 July 2023

The well-known Belarusian sculptor Alexander Minkov will make a sculpture of a bard fisherman as a gift to the XII Musical Festival "Big Fishing Bard". The musical festival will traditionally be held on the last weekend of July near the village of Chechevichi on the banks of the Chigirinsky reservoir in the Bykhov region at the Chechevichi recreation center of the Mogilev Metallurgical Plant.

“It will be a sculptural composition made of granite as tall as a man,” said Alexander Minkov, “and the plot was suggested to me by the legend of the Island of Love, which is located not far from the venue of the festival on the Chigirinsky reservoir. According to legend, on Mermaid Sunday, mermaids gather there and arrange a Sabbath with chants. And if the fisherman, succumbing to the mermaid's charms, got to the island, he never returned from there. But our situation is different. The bard fisherman holds a mermaid with a flower in his arms, which symbolizes creative inspiration, creation and love. After all, it was thanks to love that the best author's works were created by Vladimir Vysotsky, Yuri Vizbor, our countryman Arik Krupp and other bards.

The sculpture will be solemnly opened on July 28 before the concert - the opening of the festival on a symbolic bard path along with bard boulders in honor of the famous bard and creator of the largest Russian portal bards.ru Sergey Matveenko, and Minsker Sergey Ponomarev, many of whose songs have become folk. As noted by the organizing committee of the music forum, the laying of the bard path took place at the fifth festival in 2015, when the event was firmly on its feet, and its popularity grew from year to year among fans of campfire songs and outdoor activities. During this time, such iconic personalities in the bard environment as Sergey and Tatyana Nikitin, Alexander Dolsky, Yuli Kim, Timur Shaov and others have performed at the festival. They left a good mark with their creativity in the souls of the participants and guests of the festival, and their names are also immortalized on the bard path,

The music festival started in 2010 and in a short time has become one of the main business cards of the music and festival life of the Mogilev region and Belarus. It revives the traditions of family tourism, unites friendly and corporate companies. For 11 years, the music forum has been visited by more than 20 thousand spectators, musicians and artists from 16 countries: Russia, Lithuania, Slovakia, Germany, Czech Republic, Israel, USA, Spain, China and other countries.

The organizers of the "Big Bard Fishing" are the Mogilev Regional Executive Committee and the Bykhov Regional Executive Committee, the creative association "Own Circle" and the Palace of Culture of the Mogilev Region.
