Some 809 polling stations set up in Mogilev Oblast

MINSK, 26 July (BelTA) - Some 809 polling stations have been arranged in Mogilev Oblast prior to the elections to the fifth convocation House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus. Of them 37 have been set up in sanatoriums, preventative clinics, holiday houses, hospitals and other stationary medical and preventive treatment facilities. One is located in a military unit, BelTA learnt from the Mogilev Oblast Executive Committee. According to Head of the Organization and Personnel Office of the Mogilev Oblast Executive Committee Alexander Sivayev, the number of polling stations has decreased by 30 since the 2008 parliamentary election campaign when 839 polling stations were arranged in Mogilev Oblast. the official attributed the changes to demographic factors and the improved administrative and territorial system. According to the official, the number of voters per polling station varies from 20 to 3,000. Candidates to polling station commissions may be nominated up to 5 August. Political parties, other public associations, labor collectives and citizens can nominate their representatives to sit on the commissions by filing an application. Polling station commissions are to be created up to and including 8 August. According to the law, they may include from five to nineteen people. The voting day of the parliamentary elections in Belarus is 23 September.
