Masters of arts and crafts of the Mogilev region have started the implementation of the republican project "Cultural Recession of Belarus", organized by the Central Committee of the Belarusian Trade Union of Culture, Information, Sports and Tourism Workers. Now a master of folk crafts from the Svetilovichsky rural house of crafts in the Belynichi district, Daria Ganulenko , is working on his part of the map .
The Mogilev Regional Methodological Center for Folk Art and Cultural and Educational Work supervises the implementation of a large project in the region. It is here that craftswomen work on creating their part of the map. As the head of the department of traditional artistic culture Natalya Anikovich said, the map shows elements of tangible and intangible cultural heritage. “We selected them together with representatives of the districts. It was important for us to reflect on the map the main cultural values of a particular area so that it would be recognizable and fit into the overall concept, - she noted. - It was not easy to choose just one element, because in every corner of our region there are unique values that are not like in other places. As for architecture, each district has something that deserves to be on such a map.”
It took more than a month and a half to pick up cultural objects. “For craftsmen, this is a great experience, an opportunity to work in a large team and become a participant in such an important project to preserve our cultural traditions. This is a responsible job that requires great professionalism from craftswomen. Every detail matters here. In order for the work to be successful, before the start of embroidery, we held a regional seminar, the masters were able to practice at home, ”said the leading methodologist of the department Elena Savchenko.
For the convenience of craftsmen from the regions, a special schedule has been made. “Everyone is very responsible about embroidery. And if they understand that they do not have time to complete their element in the allotted time, they will definitely clarify when there is free time to come back and finish the work. There is someone here almost every day. We are not worried about the final result, because our craftsmen are true professionals who take each project very seriously,” said Natalia Domennikova, the leading methodologist of the Department of Traditional Art Culture.
Craftsman Daria Ganulenko, who is working on the creation of a part of the map from the Belynichi district, is from Mogilev herself. The girl said that from childhood she was always surrounded by creativity: her grandmother wrote poetry, her mother taught her to knit. In addition, Daria studied at an art school, graduated from an art college in Mogilev in the direction of “decorative and applied art”. Now she works in the Svetilovichsky rural house of crafts. “It took a long time to determine what to choose as the main cultural symbol of the region. There were many options, but we settled on a towel with a traditional ornament. It is doubly pleasant for me that this towel was once made by a native inhabitant of Svetilovichi, - the girl shared. - Cross stitching. The work is rather complicated, two-color - I use red and black threads. Besides, despite the fact that the pattern is geometric, it has a lot of small elements. You do something a little wrong, you have to dissolve and start over.”
The craftswoman said that participation in this project is a little exciting for her. “I feel responsible. In fact, my work will be judged on the entire region as a whole. Therefore, you need to follow all the rules in embroidery, follow not only how the drawing turns out on the front side, but also look at the image from the back. In simple cross stitch, there are many rules that must be followed in order for the result to be excellent. I double-check my every move, which is why the work goes a little slower, but I am sure that I will definitely cope with the task, ”she said.
Work on creating a part of the map from the Mogilev region will take about 3 months. After that, parts of other areas will be sewn together - a panel measuring 3 x 2.5 m will be obtained.
“The idea of the project is very interesting. There has never been such a map format, which would present various types of embroidery techniques and reflect our cultural heritage, our traditions. In all this, the roots of our people and their history are hidden. That is why I am very interested in working on such a project. You put not only your skills into this work, but also a piece of your soul, pride for the fact that in our country they are reverent about traditions and culture, ”summed up Daria Ganulenko.
