The renovated school in Klimovichi has the best conditions for the development of children

14 April 2023

Multicolored marathon of knowledge

A major overhaul with the modernization of the building of the former vocational school was completed last fall in Klimovichi. School No. 4 moved to it, which celebrated its 75th anniversary last year. The building is distinguished not only by its multi-colored coloring, but also by the variety of approaches to educational activities. It is noteworthy that the modern project provided for an inclusive environment: convenient entrances were equipped, special signs for children with visual impairments, director Antonina Shishenok said.

The renovated school is designed for 250 people, but there are many who want to study here. Now there are 257 guys.

- In the former, it happened, they studied in two shifts, and now in one. Spacious, warm, convenient transportation of children from Osmolovichi and Timonovo is organized, - says the director.

In the corridor we pay attention to an unusual exhibition. Fine woodcarving: paintings, candlesticks and animal figures, vases, home-made sledges… Olga Timoshenko , Deputy Director for Educational Work , introduces us to the inspirer of this beauty, Valeriy Novogrodsky, a labor training teacher. Valery Antonovich leads the circle "Cutting", and children with special needs, as well as those with whom individual preventive work is carried out, actively participate in it. The teacher manages to find an approach to everyone, the guys are ready to work for hours on a complex detail.

As the director explained, inclusive classes for the school are a long tradition. True, some of the lessons are held together with all the children, some - according to an individual program. There are 20 students in the third grade, two children with special needs. In the sixth - eighteen, four with special needs.

“We try not to separate children, educational hours, including class hours, are together, everyone participates to the best of their abilities and abilities,” Deputy Director Olga Timoshenko summed up. - We integrate as much as possible. When working with a defectologist teacher, they receive more attention.

I can't help but ask about the attitude of the parents of ordinary children. But even here the Klimovites do not fail: according to the teachers, no one showed dissatisfaction.

“They have been studying together since kindergarten, because the city is small,” the director explains . - No problem. It happens that babies cry when something does not work out, then the teacher pays more attention to them, supports them. Thanks to this practice, the guys understand that the world is diverse, people are different from each other, but it is important to be friends and communicate.

It is noteworthy that graduates of inclusive classes later study in Bobruisk and Mogilev, receive professions, for example, a gardener. Some work at a garment factory in the regional center.

“According to the program, they have more labor lessons,” explained Antonina Shishenok . - We attract by secondary employment: in the summer in the labor camp they sew bed linen with classmates. Sometimes they do better than their peers.

A graduate of one of these classes, Andrey Afanasov, talentedly carved wood products, painstakingly and accurately. He was also good at drawing. According to the mentors, now he works as a landscaper in Mogilev.

There are other examples when, thanks to timely support, unusual children found themselves in life.

“Ekaterina Dryagileva had speech problems, but she had a talent for sewing and embroidering,” the teacher continues. Now he works in a car park.

Not so long ago, the school held a subject week in the elementary grades “Colorful Marathon of Knowledge”. Motto: "Surprise! Diversity! Creation! Friendship! Fantasy!".

We help children with special needs to socialize in society. They find friends, communicate with peers, class teachers and teachers, - notes Antonina Mikhailovna . - The team does not feel disadvantaged, because classmates treat them with understanding and support. These guys are engaged in a lightweight individual program.

QUOTE

“There are 237 institutions of special education for children with special needs in Belarus. Practically in every region of the country there is a center for correctional and developmental education. About 70 percent of children with special needs of psychophysical development study in integrated classes, as well as in colleges and universities of the republic. We have a fairly developed network of such educational institutions, but there is a problem of training personnel and the formation of an inclusive culture for all participants in the educational process.”

Minister of Education Andriy Ivanets at an off-site meeting of the Advisory Council under the Council of the Republic on social adaptation and integration of children with special needs of psychophysical development in Polotsk.
