Trade unions continue to work to create primary organizations in the private sector of the economy

The ranks of the Mogilev regional organization of the Belarusian Trade Union of Workers of Local Industry and Public Utilities Enterprises were replenished by the primary organization of the limited liability company “Strong Basis”. It specializes in general construction and special work on housing and public utilities, leasing construction machinery and equipment, and real estate.

“It is often difficult for employees of private organizations where there is no trade union to defend their labor rights before the employer,” noted the chairman of the regional trade union organization Pavel Zhuikov . – Some managers do their best to prevent the emergence of a force representing the interests of workers in the labor collective. Meanwhile, people working in the non-state sector of the economy should also have the opportunity to exercise in practice their constitutional right to associate in trade unions.

However, there are many other examples where organizational leaders understand the role and importance of the trade union organization in work collectives. An example of such an organization is the limited liability company “Strong Basis”.

According to the deputy director for finance - managing partner of the company, Alexei Timoshenko, in a private organization that operates transparently, the management itself is interested in creating a primary trade union:

– The role of trade unions in uniting the workforce, motivating high-quality productive work, saving resources, organizing tourist and patriotic events, and healthy leisure is well known. Where there is a trade union, it becomes possible to adopt a collective agreement, which, as is known, is a powerful tool for uniting the organization’s employees based on their acceptance, on the one hand, of collective obligations, and on the other, receiving a wide package of labor and social guarantees beyond the law. I am convinced that if an organization operates within the legal framework, management cannot have any reason to hinder the creation of a trade union organization. The creation of a trade union organization in our case will certainly become a serious incentive for the influx of professional personnel from private organizations, where workers are currently not protected by a trade union.

Presenting the certificate of state registration of the new primary trade union organization, trade union leader Pavel Zhuikov emphasized:

– Both employers and trade union organizations are interested in ensuring labor and production discipline, creating healthy and safe working conditions, developing among members of the workforce a responsible attitude towards their work, tools and means of production, which has a positive effect on the results of economic activity and, as a result, , level of remuneration and additional guarantees in the social and labor sphere.
