Turkey interested in joint projects with Belarus

GOMEL, 2 March (BelTA) – Turkish businessmen are interested in joint projects with Belarus in agriculture, construction and trade, President of the Federation of Associations of Black Sea Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, member of the Board of the Tuskon Company Osman Reis told BelTA at the Belarusian-Turkish business forum in Gomel. In his words, Belarus has a great potential for business development. “Yesterday we held talks with Belarusian businessmen in Minsk, and I can say that Turkish companies are interested in developing mutual trade. In particular, we can supply Belarus with carpets, textile and food products, for example, pickled products and nuts, and, in return, buy Belarusian meat and poultry products,” he said. Foreign businessmen expressed their wish to develop cooperation with Belarusian construction companies, set up agricultural processing companies. In particular, there are plans to open a battery farm with the Turkish capital in Gomel Oblast. Apart from that, Turkey has invited Belarusian companies to partake in the Istanbul business forum “International Trading Bridge”. According to head of the FEZ Gomel-Raton Administration Alexander Kornev, Belarus attaches great importance to the forum as far as of 81 residents of the free economic zone there is only one with the Turkish capital. “Gomel Oblast is interested in setting up joint Belarusian-Turkish companies in engineering and electronics. We hope this event will promote further strengthening of bilateral cooperation, and more Turkish investment will come into the FEZ Gomel-Raton in the near future,” Alexander Kornev said. The Belarusian-Turkish business forum is held in Gomel for the first time. Partaking in it are representatives of 16 Turkish companies, heads of the Belarusian companies, FEZ Gomel-Raton and the economy department of the Gomel oblast executive committee. FEZ Gomel-Raton has been successfully cooperating with the Turkish business. In particular, close ties have been established with the Aegean Region Chamber of Industry and the Izmir Chamber of Commerce, the Federation of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of the Aegean Region and Western Mediterranean, the Federation of Entrepreneurs of Cesme. One of the FEZ Gomel-Raton’s residents is a Turkish-capital Dangi Profile Company that produces electric-weld pipes. It was registered in 2007. Last year the company’s output exceeded $4 million.
