Lukashenko: Belarus seeks closer ties with Singapore

Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko has congratulated Singapore President Tharman Shanmugaratnam and all Singaporean people as the country celebrates Independence Day, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian leader."The history of sovereign Singapore clearly demonstrates that the influence and role of a state in the modern world is determined not only by its size, geographical location, availability of natural resources, but by the spirit and diligence of its people," the president said.Aleksandr Lukashenko pointed out that Belarus and Singapore shared long-standing friendship and trust, striving for maintaining and strengthening independence, sustainable development, enhancing the role of small and medium-sized states in the international arena.The Belarusian president underlined: "Belarus seeks closer ties with Singapore in terms of economy, trade, food security, inter-parliamentary, business and humanitarian relations".The Belarusian leader wished health and happiness to the president of Singapore and his relatives, and prosperity to the Singaporean people.
